BLACKMON'S CYCLE HIGHLIGHTS ROCKS BLOWOUT
Clubs Combine for 21 Runs in Coors Field Special

DENVER, May 22 (AP) - Charlie Blackmon became the first major league player to hit for the cycle this season, pacing the Colorado Rockies 14-7 pounding of the San Francisco Giants.  Blackmon completed the cycle with a double in his final at bat, coming in the 7th inning.  He finished the game with four runs scored, four driven in and four hits.  Troy Tulowitzki, number two in the National League in batting average, also banged out four hits.  The Rockies collected 19 safeties all-told, with every member of the starting lineup other than right fielder Michael Cuddyer registering at least one.  Even starting pitcher Jorge De la Rosa had two hits.

The Giants scored first, when Hunter Pence homered off De la Rosa in the top of the opening inning but the Rockies came back with three in the bottom half of the frame.  Blackmon started off his big day when he led off the inning with a single and took second when Giants left fielder Tyler Colvin kicked the ball for an error.  Cuddyer drew a walk and Tulowitzki's grounder to first moved the runners to second and third with one out.  Justin Morneau followed with a double to left, scoring both runners to give Colorado a 2-1 lead.  Nolan Arenado grounded to short for the second out but Corey Dickerson singled to right, scoring Morneau, though Dickerson was nabbed trying to advance to second on the throw to the plate.  The Rockies now led 3-1.

It only got worse for San Francisco starter Tim Hudson.  In the second, De la Rosa singled with two outs and scored when Blackmon belted his fourth home run of the year to give the Rockies a 5-1 advantage.

Colorado made it 7-1 in the third.  Tulowitzki led off with a double, took third on Morneau's ground out and scored on Arenado's base hit.  Dickerson walked, putting runners on first and second and, after Willin Rosario flied out, D.J. LeMahieu singled to give the Rockies a six-run lead.

A solo home run off the bat of Brandon Hicks drew the Giants to within 7-2 in the top of the fourth but the Rockies came back with two in the bottom half of the inning.  Blackmon led off with a triple and that ended Hudson's day.  George Kontos replaced him on the mound and he fanned Cuddyer for the first out.  But Tulowitzki singled Blackmon home for an 8-2 Colorado lead and, one out later, back-to-back singles by Arenado and Dickerson made it 9-2.

The Giants cut the deficit to 9-4 in the fifth when Pence singled with two outs and trotted home on Buster Posey's long ball, but it was just delaying the inevitable.  The Rockies exploded for four more in the seventh, highlighted by Blackon's cycle-completing two-run double and Tulowitki's two-run homer.

Arenado's solo home run in the eighth made it 14-4 before the Giants scored three meaningless tallies in the top of the ninth, with Pence's second home run of the game, a two-run shot, capping the scoring.
