LUCROY EXTENDS HITTING STREAK TO 25 GAMES
D-Backs Pummel Brewers

MILWAUKEE, May 6 (AP) - Jonathan Lucroy extended his major league best hitting streak to 25 games, but the feat couldn't keep the Brewers from absorbing a 10-1 thumping at the hands of the Arizona Diamondbacks at Miller Park in Milwaukee.  Suspense over whether Lucroy would hit safely in the contest was put to rest in his second plate appearance, when he doubled to right-center field off Diamondbacks starter Josh Collmenter.  Lucroy went on to accrue three hits in the game, including a seventh inning solo home run, accounting for Milwaukee's lone tally.

Collmenter worked eight strong innings, surrendering only the single run on six hits.

Arizona jumped on top in the opening frame, with three runs off Brewers starter Marco Estrada.  Back-to-back singles off the bats of Gerardo Parra and Chris Owings put runners on first and second and a walk to Paul Goldschmidt filled the bases.  Miguel Montero's grounder to third led to a force of Parra at the plate for the first out but Aaron Hill doubled into the left field corner, scoring Owings and Goldschmidt and chasing Montero to third.  Martin Prado's grounder to short then scored Montero with the third run of the inning.

The Diamondbacks would never look back.  They added a run in the third when Goldschmidt singled with one out, advanced to third on Montero's base hit and scored on Hill's sacrifice fly to right, making the score 4-0.

Arizona added a run in the seventh on Goldschmidt's RBI single and the Brewers finally got on the board in the bottom half of the inning on Lucroy's homer.

The Diamondbacks then put the game out of reach with a five-run eighth.  With reliever Tyler Thornburg on the hill, a pair of walks bracketed a single to load the bases with no outs.  Ender Inciarte followed with a two-run single to make it 7-1 and another free pass refilled the bags.  A bases loaded walk, a ground out and a passed ball accounted for three more runs and a 10-1 lead.

Collmenter held the Brewers off the board in the eighth and Evan Marshall worked a scoreless inning of mop up duty to close the game.

Lucroy was essentially Milwaukee's only bright spot.  During the hitting streak, which began on April 6, Lucroy is batting .427 (41-for-96) with 13 multi-hit games to his credit.
