HART'S 2 HOMERS INCLUDE GAME-WINNER IN 12TH
Giants Overcome 13 LOB

SAN FRANCISCO, June 27 (AP) - Jim Ray Hart hit a pair of home runs including a two-run game-winner in the bottom of the 12th as the San Francisco Giants eked past the Los Angeles Dodgers, 4-2, at Candlestick Park.  Hart hit a solo home run in the fourth inning off Dodgers starter Joe Moeller.

The Giants drew first blood in the bottom of the opening inning when Willie Mays tripled with two outs and scored on Duke Snider's single.  San Francisco doubled its lead on Hart's fourth inning roundtripper.

The Dodgers evened the score in the top of the sixth against Juan Marichal.  With one out, Wes Parker singled and then was forced at second on Darrel Griffith's grounder to third base.  Tommy Davis then worked the count to 3-2 and drove a Marichal fastball just inside the left field foul pole, tying the game 2-2.

The Giants had a chance to take the lead in the bottom of the seventh.  Marichal singled with two outs and advanced to second when Harvey Kuenn blooped a base hit to left.  Hal Lanier then reached on an infield hit to load the bases.  That ended Moeller's day; he was replaced by Bob Miller, who was greeted by Mays.  Miller won the battle, inducing a fly ball to right field to end the inning.

Los Angeles missed a golden opportunity to take a lead in the top of the ninth.  Ron Fairly drew a one-out walk and promptly stole second base and moved to third on catcher Tom Haller's throwing error.  San Francisco drew the infield in but Frank Howard lined sharply to Hart at third base who alertly doubled off Fairly, ending the inning.

The Giants nearly ended the game in the 11th.  Jose Pagan reached first base on third baseman Dick Tracewski's error.  Chuck Hiller followed by rolling a single into right field, chasing Pagan to third.  The Dodgers decided to walk Kuenn intentionally and face Jim Davenport, who was called upon to pinch hit for reliever Billy O'Dell.  Davenport bounced to Tracewski who fired home to force Pagan for the second out.  Mays then flied to right again to end the inning.

Ron Perranoski started his third inning of relief for the Dodgers in the 12th and he retired Jesus Alou and Orlando Cepeda easily to begin the inning.  But Haller lined a two-out single to left-center, setting up Hart's heroics.  Hart worked the count to 3-2 and then drove Perranoski's pitch deep over the left field fence to end the game.
