Hall Doubles 3 Times in Twins 'W'

BLOOMINGTON, Minn., May 10 (AP) - Struggling Twins starter Camilo Pascual tossed his best game of the season, firing a two-hit complete game shutout and Jimmie Hall belted three doubles as Minnesota bested the Kansas City Athletics, 5-0, at Metropolitan Stadium.  Pascual entered the game with a record of 0-3 and a 4.88 earned run average, but was in complete control, shutting down the American League's most prolific offensive unit.

Pascual's mound opponent, Aurelio Monteagudo (0-2), came into the contest with an ERA of 10.00, but fired seven solid innings himself before being removed in favor of a pinch hitter as the A's tried in vain to get back into the game.

But it was essentially Pascual's day, as he allowed only two singles--both off the bat of second baseman Dick Green--and walked none, while striking out six batters.  His Twins teammates committed a pair of errors, but Pascual pitched around them with ease.

Minnesota acquired the only runs it would need in the second inning.  Hall led off the frame with the first of his three two-baggers and scored on Bob Allison's third home run of the year, putting the Twins ahead 2-0.  The lead was extended to three runs on Zoilo Versalles' one-out solo homer in the fifth.

The Twins put the exclamation point on their offensive output off Kansas City reliever John Wyatt in the eighth.  Tony Oliva doubled with one out and Hall followed with a run-scoring double of his own.  One out later, Don Mincher singled through the middle, scoring Hall and capping the scoring.

Pascual never gave the A's a hint of a possible comeback, retiring the final 10 batters he faced in order, earning his team's second shutout of the year in the process.
