PARMELEE 2-HITS PHILS
Loses No-Hitter in 7th

NEW YORK, July 29 (AP) - Roy Parmelee became the 11th major league pitcher to throw a complete game two-hitter this year, leading the New York Giants past the Philadelphia Phillies in the first game of a doubleheader at the Polo Grounds.  Parmelee became the seventh starter in the big leagues this season to take a no-hitter into the seventh inning but lost it with when Johnny Moore singled to open the frame.

The Giants gave Parmeless the only run he would need in the bottom of the first inning when Bill Terry drove a Euel Moore fastball into the right field grandstand for his fourth home run of the season.

New York added a pair of tallies in the sixth.  Jo-Jo Moore drew a lead-off walk and advanced to second on a passed ball.  Euel Moore retired Hughie Critz and Terry on grounders to short and Mel Ott was walked intentionally.  But Lefty O'Doul foiled the strategy and roped a triple into the right-center field gap, scoring Jo-Jo Moore and Ott to give the Giants a 3-0 lead.

Parmelee walked two batters, hit one and a fourth hitter reached base on an error, but all were isolated in separate innings through six.  But Johnny Moore slashed the first pitch he saw from Parmelee into left field for a base hit.  Dolph Camilli struck out and Kiddo Davis flied to center but Andy High dropped a single into left, bringing the tying run to the plate.  Parmelee rose to the occasion and struck out Al Todd to end the threat.

That was the last chance the Phillies had as Parmelee closed the game by retiring the final seven batters he faced.
